Game of Thrones… Good Things Come to Those Who Wait, Even Winter

I’m wondering why people are actually upset about George R.R. Martin announcing his delay for his 6th book in the Song of Ice and Fire Series, The Winds of Winter. Or better known as its TV adoption, Game of Thrones.

I suppose this is where I need to say, take a moment to step in a writer’s shoes. But, unless you’ve written your own book, and then tried to polish it enough for the public eye, you don’t realize how much really goes into the whole process. It’s definitely not fast, and it’s not easy. But when people enjoy something, they get caught up in the “instant gratification” fad of this generation. I’m sure it’s every writer’s dream to have angry fans demanding you finish your two-year project NOW!

I’ll tell you something, I’m from this generation, and I’m happy to see there’s a famous author out there who won’t rush through a book, even one millions of people would buy up in a flash, just because he can. He wants to make sure it’s done right, and he also wants to make sure he’s actually living his life. After all, he deserves it.

And what really amazes me is that this isn’t his second book in this particular series, or third, it’s his sixth… and he’s still taking it seriously. Kudos to George.
