Today I have a very special guest on the blog. Tiffany Shand is a freelance blogger, editor, copywriter, and author entrepreneur who I met while reaching out to bloggers for the AJ December Blog Tour. I was excited when she agreed to an interview because I’m a fan of her urban fantasy work.
A.F. Thanks for taking the time to speak with us today! What got you into writing?
T.S. Hi, I’m Tiffany! I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember when I first started making up stories about my dog and my rabbit when I was five.
A.F. That’s so cute! Tell us about your experience, what were the biggest challenges and how did you overcome them?
T.S. I published my first novel in 2015 and I think the biggest challenge for me was starting and growing my author platform. I didn’t know what I was doing when I first started out.
A.F. I think we all can relate to that. How do you approach marketing and your author platform? Do you spend a lot of time on it?
T.S. I think my author platform is one of the most important aspects of marketing so I try to spend a bit time on it each day.
A.F. I agree with you. Consistency makes all the difference. What advice would you give unpublished writers?
T.S. Write as much as you can, get people to give you honest feedback and don’t give up no matter how hard things might seem.
A.F. Excellent advice. Okay, last question. Just for fun, do you have any writing quirks you’d care to share?
T.S. I shove my demon cats out of the room when I want to write – unless on rare occasions they are asleep.
